Congratulations to NOAH’s New Regional Medical Directors

NOAH is excited to introduce our two new Regional Medical Directors: Dr. Rachel Giroux, a Family Medicine Physician at NOAH’s Desert Mission Health Center, and Dr. Ralph “Sam” Whallon II, a Family Medicine Physician at NOAH’s Cholla Health Center!

Rachel Giroux De Armendariz, DO

Dr. Giroux is a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Science at Arizona State University and her Doctor of Osteopathy at Midwestern University. Dr. Giroux also completed her residency at the HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Family Medicine Residency and her Geriatric Fellowship at Banner Health – University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix.

Before joining the NOAH Desert Mission team in 2022, Dr. Giroux served as Chief Resident and Medical Director at a free clinic and sister community health center. Furthermore, Dr. Giroux has served on the Innovation Care Partners (ICP) Quality and Performance Committee and held faculty positions at both AT Stills University and University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix.

Dr. Giroux’s commitment to teaching was demonstrated during her time at NOAH, where she has served as a Community Health Immersion Program (CHIP) Lead and a Supervising Physician to several Physician Assistant new graduates.

Ralph “Sam” Whallon II, MD

Dr. Whallon is a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician, graduating Summa Cum Laude in Computational Mathematical Science from Arizona State University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson and completed his residency at the previous NOAH affiliated HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Family Medicine Residency.

For the past six years, Dr. Whallon has served at various clinics including BEACH, and various NOAH health clinics including Desert Mission, Palomino, and now the Cholla Health Center. He is deeply committed to teaching, holding a clinical instructor faculty position at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Arizona and serving as a CHIP Lead and Supervising Physician to Physician Assistant graduates at NOAH.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Whallon contributes to his family’s business and is actively involved in his church community. He was honored with NOAH’s “Patient First Award” last year during our all-staff meeting and has recently taken on the role of Medical Provider Site Lead at NOAH’s Cholla Health Center.
