NOAH Specific Q&A
What if I filled out a COVID-19 exemption form in the past?
You will still need to submit a declination for the updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine.
If I received a COVID-19 bivalent booster and/or primary series, do I still need to get an updated COVID-19 vaccine?
Yes. All NOAH employees will need to either receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine or complete a declination form.
Can I get my Influenza and updated COVID-19 vaccine at the same time?

Can I receive my updated COVID-19 vaccine from a provider outside of NOAH?

General Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Information
What is different about the updated COVID vaccine?
This will be the only COVID vaccine that’s available this fall. This updated vaccine is a monovalent vaccine, meaning there’s only one component, compared with the previous bivalent COVID vaccine.
Why should you get the updated vaccine?
The virus that causes COVID-19 is always changing, and protection from COVID vaccines declines over time. Receiving an updated vaccine can restore protection and provide enhanced protection against the variants responsible for most infections.
Is the new vaccine considered a “booster”?
The FDA has shifted to calling the new COVID-19 vaccines “updated vaccines”. The change in wording is in anticipation of needing to provide updated formulas annually, similar to the flu shot, which changes each year.
I received a Moderna, J&J, or Novavax vaccine in the past. Is it safe to receive an updated Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine?
Yes, everyone 5 years and older should get one dose of the updated Pfizer or Moderna vaccine regardless of past COVID-19 vaccinations.
Can I get vaccinated against COVID-19 while I am currently sick with COVID-19?
No. You should wait to be vaccinated until after you complete your isolation period to avoid potentially exposing healthcare personnel and others during the vaccination visit.
If I already had COVID-19 and recovered, do I still need to get a COVID-19 vaccine?
You should get a COVID-19 vaccine even if you already had COVID-19. Getting a COVID-19 vaccine after you recover from COVID-19 infection provides added protection against COVID-19. You may consider delaying your vaccine by 3 months. People who already had COVID-19 and do not get vaccinated after their recovery are more likely to get COVID-19 again than those who get vaccinated after their recovery.
If I had COVID recently, when should I get the updated vaccine?
It’s important to stay up to date with your vaccines. According to the CDC, you can wait three months since your symptoms began or, for asymptomatic cases, since you first tested positive. As always, discuss with your doctor beforehand.
Are there any side effects to the updated vaccine that are different from previous shots?
No, the possible side effects for the updated vaccine are the same as with the previous vaccines.
If I’m pregnant or planning to become pregnant, can I get a COVID-19 vaccine?
Yes, COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to get pregnant now, as well as people who might become pregnant in the future.
