NOAH Partners in Prevention Addresses Rising HIV

NOAH was awarded a HRSA grant to launch Partners in Prevention; a specialized team to address the rising number of HIV cases in Maricopa County.  Maricopa County is recognized as one of the 57 HIV “hot spots” by Health and Human Services.

Dr. Rosas, NOAH’s Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Kerry Nickerson, NOAH’s Director of Population Health Management are working to launch the team so that new and current NOAH patients have access to:

  • HIV testing – people can call NOAH at 480-882-4545 to make an appointment to get tested. Visit the CDC to get up to speed on HIV and read why testing is so important!
  • Prevention – PrEP is a medicine that prevents the virus. PrEP can be prescribed for people who are high-rise. Learn more about PrEP here.
  • Specialized care – people testing positive for HIV will be connected to compassionate and caring treatment at Valleywise and Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS.

NOAH will also be working with Sonoran Prevention Works (located across the street from new Desert Mission!) to connect their target population, opioid/needle drug users, to testing and care. The specialized team will include a Clinical Provider, HIV RN Care Coordinator, and MA Navigators. Check out the NOAH Careers page for these and other opportunities.

NOAH is excited to be a part of this effort to reduce HIV in Maricopa County!
