Congratulations Dr. Castro, on completing the HonorHealth General Residency Surgery program!
In 2015, the HonorHealth General Residency program partnered with NOAH to offer low to no-cost primary prevention surgical procedures on a sliding fee scale basis to our patients.
Under the guidance of Residency Program Director Dr. Mangram, Dr. Castro became the Surgery Chief Resident for the 2022-2023 year. During her five-year residency, Dr. Castro’s goal was invested in focusing on the transition of care in the outpatient setting and ensuring continuity of care without reinventing the wheel. With Dr. Castro’s help within the program, the resident clinic has seen an increase in patients each year since the opening of the first clinic at Desert Mission in 2016. In 2022, the resident clinic saw roughly 373 patients.
The program’s unique approach not only provides affordable surgery but also offers valuable education to both residents and patients. To learn more about Dr. Castro and the HonorHealth General Residency Surgery program, you can check out her Grand Round’s presentation here.
Thank you, Dr. Castro, for your exceptional work and ongoing dedication during your residency!
