MA Training Program Update

We are excited to share a couple of updates on our AHEAD-AZ Medical Assistant Training Program!

Recent Graduates

Congratulations to the graduates of our fourth cohort!

  • Selena Hernandez, Registration/Scheduler at Palomino Health Center
  • Mariah Hinojos, Patient Services Representative at Dreamy Draw

Over the last six months, Selena and Mariah have worked diligently to complete more than 300 hours of online academic education and on-site clinical training covering computer skills, vital sign measurement and recording, ECGs, laboratory testing, blood draws, injections, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, coding, appointment scheduling, CPR and first aid, psychology, and medical record management. This fast-paced training program is especially demanding for students as academic and clinical hours are in addition to the daily duties of their current NOAH roles.

Support from their supervisors, Perla Avila and Jason Romero, along with NOAH’s preceptor, Janet Estrada have been instrumental in helping Selena and Mariah complete this program. Both students have passed their exams and will be moving into their new Medical Assistant roles soon! Program participants and their families along with supervisors and committee members celebrated with a special lunch this week.

New Cohort Applications

We are currently seeking applicants for our next cohort which will begin January 14, 2025. Employees interested in applying for the fifth cohort should work with their supervisors to discuss participation, determine eligibility, and complete the next steps in the application process. Please note funding has changed for this cohort and may vary for program participants. Once approved, applicants will work with Arizona@Work to determine funding.
