Monthly Policy Highlight: NOAH Employee Identification Badges

At NOAH, the safety and security of both our employees and patients are of utmost importance. One way we ensure that everyone who enters our premises is authorized is through the use of employee identification badges. These badges not only serve as a means of identification but also help maintain a secure environment across all NOAH clinic and administrative locations.

Why is Wearing Your Badge So Important?

The NOAH Employee Identification Badge is more than just a piece of plastic. It is essential for access control to various areas within our clinics and administrative locations. According to our policy (HR1344), all NOAH employees are required to wear their badges at all times while on company property. The badge must be clearly visible, displaying the employee’s name and photo, to help ensure a safe and secure environment.

What Happens If You Don’t Wear Your Badge?

Failure to wear your badge or ensuring it’s visible can hinder the security process and the patient experience. Without it, our access control system cannot verify whether an individual is authorized to be in certain areas. Wearing your badge consistently helps keep everyone safe and ensures smooth operations across our facilities.

Badge Modifications: Keep It Plain!

It’s important to note that badges must not be altered in any way. Whether it’s adding stickers, pins, or personal touches, modifying your badge is prohibited unless part of a marketing campaign officially approved by NOAH leadership. The badge’s design and appearance are carefully chosen to serve a specific purpose in maintaining safety and security standards, and any unauthorized modifications could compromise the badge functionality.

Caring for Your Badge: Protecting Your RFID Access

Your badge is equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. This allows the badge to interact with access control systems to grant or deny entry based on your access permissions. To keep your badge functioning properly, it’s essential to treat it with care. Here are some helpful tips:

  • Avoid leaving your badge in your car, where it can be exposed to extreme temperatures, which could damage the RFID chip.
  • Keep it away from heat and direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can affect its functionality.
  • Don’t place your badge on magnetic charging docks or other magnetic surfaces, as this could interfere with its RFID technology.

Taking these simple precautions ensures that your badge continues to function as expected and helps you avoid unnecessary delays when accessing different areas.

Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Badges: Quick Action Required

If your badge is lost, stolen, or damaged, it’s critical to act quickly. The first step is to submit a Support Services work request to have your badge deactivated, ensuring that it no longer grants access to sensitive areas. A replacement badge will then be issued to you. In the meantime, you will have to ask people to assist you with access. It is NEVER ok, to wear or use someone else’s badge. Also keep in mind we do not issue “loaner” badges, it is the responsibility of the employee to go home and get their badge or have another one made if it is lost or stolen.

Replacement badges can also be requested in cases of:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Legal name changes
  • HR-approved title changes
  • Significant changes in your appearance

Remember, excessive badge replacement requests may prompt a discussion regarding performance, so it’s important to take good care of your badge.
