Every year since 1988, World AIDS Day is observed on December 1 as a day of solidarity for people around the world who are affected by HIV. This is a day for voices to unite by sharing experiences, remembering those lost, and standing together in the fight against HIV. There are several events happening throughout the Phoenix region this Thursday. NOAH’s Partners in Prevention team will be attending the events below to represent NOAH’s commitment to HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness. Please feel free to join one or both events either on your own or as a representative of NOAH.
- In observance of World AIDS Day, the Phoenix LGBTQ Employee Alliance has partnered with the City of Phoenix Fast-Track Cities Initiative for a hybrid (in-person and virtual) event. The event will kick off beginning at 12:30 p.m., with a discussion on the featured film We Were Here, followed immediately by a special guest presentation. For more information, visit www.phoenix.gov/hivphx/.
- The Phoenix Aids Candlelight Vigil is a collaboration of HIV community members and agencies coming together to remember those who have lost their lives to this deadly disease. Located at the Parsons Center for Health & Wellness, hear stories from long time survivors and those loved and lost. Also, thanks to support from Aunt Rita’s Foundation, there will be several quilt panels on display at the Parsons Center. The vigil ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.phxvigil.org.
