Collage is often used in counseling as a way for patients to express themselves non-verbally. These creative pieces typically start by selecting and cutting out pictures, letters, or shapes from magazine pages and assembling them into a new picture or group of pictures that illustrate a feeling, communicate an idea, engage a patient’s subconscious, or even simply provide an artistic outlet.
The key to making a meaningful collage is great content and that’s where you come in! Culture Club and the Green Team have joined forces to sponsor an ongoing magazine collection program to support collage therapy for patients of all ages. While all donations are welcome, popular topics include nature, outdoors, weather, and travel or children’s magazines like Highlights, Time for Kids, National Geographic Kids, etc.
To participate, simply gather unwanted, gently used magazines, cut out or remove any address labels, screen for any inappropriate content, and deliver them to the Public Safety Specialist at your nearest NOAH health center location or Dreamy Draw.
