Educating Our Patients: Every Vote Counts

As a Community Health Center, we have the opportunity to engage with a wide-range of patients including many who represent underserved populations. These patients have limited access to resources or services and often include people who:

  • are socioeconomically disadvantaged
  • have limited english proficiency
  • are ethnic minorities
  • have disabilities
  • other factors

These populations experience a number of issues including:

  • higher rates of chronic and acute illness
  • worse health-related outcomes
  • physical, social, economic, and emotional vulnerability

These populations are also less likely to engage in civic responsibilities like voting, but are often more impacted by decisions, policies, and laws decided on by voters.

We have a unique opportunity to reach these special populations through our services. In partnership with OCHIN and Vot-ER, all NOAH patients are receiving “register to vote” messaging on after visit summaries and through MyChart inbox and home page announcements like the one below:

If patients have questions about this messaging, please encourage them to check their voter status, register to vote, and seek education on topics and candidates through a nonpartisan resource like Vot-ER or Vote411. Voter registration status is also available at Service Arizona.

October 7 is the deadline for voter registration.

If you have additional questions about this effort, please reach out to your leader.
